second baby on the way!

ok, so I'm not preggers, I'm just launching into my next film.  It's very much akin to gestating, birthing and raising a child, or what I imagine it to be:

  • you live with it for a crazy long time (at times you feel like it'll never leave the nest, yeah?)
  • it irritates, frustrates and maddens you but you love it unconditionally and wholeheartedly
  • you lose a lot of sleep over it.  I mean a lot.  Like, you want to punch yourself in the face.  a lot of times.
  • when you push it out to the world, you worry if the other kids will play nice
  • when it has its own accomplishments, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, or when others are stirred by what it says, it makes all the self-inflicted hair pulling and late nights curled up in a fetal position worth it.  And you couldn't love it more or be more proud.

if that doesn't sound like parenting, I don't know what does.

Anyway, I'm in pre-production for my next documentary film - on a light-hearted topic called...human trafficking.  Ok, not so light & fluffy, but I always ended back up in the dark and murky places, so I thought I'd better follow my instincts.

REDEMPTION is a feature-length documentary film exploring the dramatic lives of three Asian female survivors of human trafficking. In the tumultuous aftermath of their captivity, they journey through failure, success, survival, hope and redemption. Can they ever really be free?

We received a pre-production grant from the Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media and signed with Women Make Movies as our sponsor, about which I'm super excited.

It looks like there's some good momentum with the film so check back periodically as I'll be updating this site before launching the new site for the film.

Thanks again to everyone for all your support and interest - it's because of you that I'm able to continue having my babies and I hope to make you proud.

until next time ~

Regina.
